Jet Lag leaves adults tired, cranky and many times, physically ill. For children the adjustment from one time zone to another is even more difficult. Young children, especially, are very sensitive to any changes in their schedules and react poorly to sudden time differences.

Avoiding jet lag for your children makes good sense for everyone.

If traveling by air, try to travel during your child’s normal sleep time in the new time zone. It is likely they will nap during part of the trip.

Push fluids. Keeping well hydrated will go a long way toward alleviating symptoms of jet lag. Water is best, sports drinks are good, but avoid carbonated sodas.

Avoid junk foods. Sugar and high fat carbs like cookies and chips will make blood sugar unstable and make your child more fussy. At the same time, try to keep the child’s diet as close to normal as possible.

Try to get your child prepared for the new time zone by adjusting their schedule gradually over a week or two before the trip. If this is not practical, have your child go to bed in line with the new time zone the day before the trip. When you arrive at your destination, let them nap, but keep them on the new time.

Physical activity will help your child’s body deal with the jet lag. Take them for a walk around the new city, a swim in your hotel pool or let them run through a park when you get to your destination. It will also help to let your child walk around on the plane often.

Parents should remember jet lag effects adults and children equally and that children are not as psychologically able to push past the physical effects. Children may need extra nap time for a few days upon arrival at the new destination.

When traveling by train or bus with small children, safety is a crucial factor.

In the station lobby, keep children close by. Places like crowded airports and bustling train stations are very popular hangouts for purse snatchers and pickpockets, and an unsupervised child might be a very tempting target.

Don’t let your luggage out of sight, either. With a family-sized pile of baggage, one small piece might not be missed until the family is a hundred miles from the station. Put your ID on all of your luggage. While you’re at it, make sure every child is also carrying ID, including name, address, itinerary, phone numbers, and if possible, the contact information for the person the child is going to see at their destination. That way, even in the unlikely event you and your children are separated, they should be able to contact either you or someone at the destination.

Supervision of children is also critical when boarding or leaving the vehicle. Bus and train stations are very active places, with vehicles moving in all directions, and a child could very easily step into danger while the parents are wrestling with a stroller or heavy bag.

Bus or train rides that last longer than a few minutes will require moving around, even if only for restroom breaks. Since the vehicle will be moving, children may need help to keep their balance and footing while working their way to and from the restroom.

Place children in window seats on buses whenever possible. Not only will this give them something to look at during the trip, it will also make it more difficult for them to wander away down the aisle if mommy or daddy falls asleep because they would have to crawl over or under the adult.

Trains and subways can be very crowded at times and small children can get lost in the commotion. Be sure to keep the children close when the ride becomes “standing room only.”

Did you just recently purchase an RV? Or, have you decided that you would like to rent a motor home? If so, you may be interested in taking an RV trip this summer. As with any other season, there are a number of steps that you can and should implement to improve the overall enjoyment and safety of your upcoming RV trip.

Perhaps, the most important step that you should take, before leaving in your RV this summer is to have it inspected. Is your motor home fit to travel during the summer? Most are, but it is also important to examine long distances. If your summer RV trip is a cross-country trip, ask your mechanic if your RV will be able to survive.

The next step that you should take involves mapping out your intended route. Deciding ahead of time where you will be going and how you will get there is an important part of traveling by RV. This is not only important for yourself, but for those that you know. Should you end up stranded in your RV, an itinerary that was left with a close friend or relative can help you be found by rescue members.

Always carry a cell phone with you. Cell phones are one of the best ways to stay safe on the road. Make sure that you know where your cell phone is at all times, as it can be easy to misplace items in a motor home. Also, be sure to bring your cell phone charger with you. A dead cell phone will not offer any assistance in the event of an emergency. Maps and GPS units are also advised for traveling by RV.

Having a toolbox on hand is also a great way to avoid complications on your next summer RV trip. When packing a toolbox, you don’t need an oversized toolbox filled with tools. Often times, the basics are enough. These items should include screwdrivers, wrenches, a pocketknife, a box cutter, and a hammer.

A toolbox is just one of the many supplies that you will want to have for your next summer RV trip. In fact, you may want to create a checklist for yourself. A checklist is a great way to make sure that you haven’t forgotten anything. On your checklist, include the basics, such as food, drinks, clothing, first aid kits, and so forth. Your personal wants should also be included as well, such as a deck of playing cards, movies, and so forth.

For summer travel, be sure to have plenty of bottled water on hand. Other drinks and convenient to prepare and eat snacks are advised. During the summer, we are all encouraged to drink more water to stay hydrated. This is important when on the road. Water is also important during an emergency. If you are stranded and the temperatures are high, water can help to save lives.

The above mentioned points are all important points to take into considerations, when looking to travel by RV in the summer. Another great tip involves making all reservations before you leave. This is particularly important with public campgrounds and RV parks, as summer is a popular time for traveling by RV. Research your options to determine if reservations are needed, so that you will not left without the proper RV accommodations this summer.

There are numerous perks to being a travel nurse. You get to see the many different and varied parts of the country, you tend to enjoy a larger salary then your stay at home contemporaries, if you can’t stand your co-workers you at least have the knowledge that you’ll only have to deal with them for a short period of time before you can move onto a whole new set of co-workers. Most travel nurses have great dental and health plans. You are constantly expanding on your working educations. You get to work with a wide variety of patients. Your traveling expenses are usually paid either by your travel nursing agency or your temporary employer. You seldom have to worry about finding a new home. You are making new friends all over the country. In some cases if you and your best friend are both travel nurses you can work side by side with a familiar face. The benefits are lucrative. You are probably part of a great reward program. Your temporary housing is fully furnished.

The down side to travel nursing is if you are a pet lover. The lifestyle of a travel nurse is not well suited for keeping a pet of your own.

One of the big reasons you will probably have to find a new home for your dog and/or cat is all the traveling you will be doing. It is difficult and stressful for a dog or cat to be constantly moving from one part of the country to the next. Some pets are more adaptable then others. if your pet has a difficult time dealing with change, dragging it along on your cross country journeys could potentially shorten its life.

Consider the expense of traveling with your pet. The travel nursing agency typically makes sure that your travel expenses are paid for but that doesn’t mean that they will be willing to pay your pet’s travel expenses. More then likely your dog or cat’s plane ticket will come out of your pocket.

Travel nurses are generally provided with fully furnished housing that is close to the hospital or medical office that they are going to be working in. This housing is normally in the form of a hotel room or a short rent apartment. On the average this type of housing does not allow pets because pets shred curtains, chew on furniture, ruin carpets, and expose other tenets to allergens. If you insist on taking your pet along, you might find that you are going to have to find your very own housing, housing that will allow you to keep a pet.

Pets, especially dogs, require a lot of your attention. This is especially true after you have transplanted them from the home they know into a home in a different part of the world. You will probably be working long hours. Do you really want to have to take your dog for a walk and play with it when you finally get home.

If you decide that your new lifestyle is not fair to your pet, talk to your friends and family, find out if someone is willing to take your beloved pet into their own home provided that you pay their expenses. This will give you piece of mind knowing that your pet is in good hands while you are away from home, and will let you see them when you return home between jobs.

The United States has so much variety, that it would take a person a lifetime to see all that the different states has to offer. From National parks, to Forest, from theme parks to historic monuments, it is no wonder more and more people set out year after year, traveling across the United States.

If you or your family is planning on making a trip across the United States, either as one long trip from coast to coast, or just have plans to visit one state at a time, each time visiting a new attraction, the best way to plan these trips is by the use of maps.

There are several maps available. For those traveling by car, a road map, which can be purchased at practically any store or gas station, will be an essential element while making travel plans. These road maps come as a complete book including each of the fifty states, or a single map specifically for one state. It is a good idea to have both types of maps available if possible, as they will show different things on them, such as rest stops and points of interests. Along with a road map, it is also important to get detailed maps of the location you are planning on visiting. For instance, those that wish to travel to Washington D.C should plan to obtain travel maps specific for that area which would include where each of the historical monuments can be found along with where certain hotels are located. This type of information is very useful to people as they make their travel plans to states that are unfamiliar to them.

For those that have a goal to visit each of the states during the course of their life, it is a good idea to start collecting maps from each of the fifty states to get a better picture of what each state has to offer. It may surprise some people to find out what there is available to them within certain states. It is also wise to find out how long it takes to get from one state to another, and if it is possible to visit more then one state during a single trip. Travel maps are perfect for answering each of these questions, which in the end will make the trip more smooth and enjoyable.

Even those that are primarily traveling to different states for business, and who will not be spending a lot of time site seeing, a detailed travel map is also useful in determining where his or her hotel is in relation to where he or she needs to be during the business trip and where certain restaurants are. This is a time saver when someone is in an unfamiliar location. By the use of maps, it will prevent the person spending time wondering around the area looking for a place to eat or shop.

Traveling across the United States, regardless of the reason is very exciting as you are able to take in what each of the fifty States has to offer its visitors. By planning your trip with the use of maps, it is certain that you will be able to make the most of any trip you take.

Tokyo, it is the largest city in Japan, and the world. The population is over twelve million people, and it has millions of visitors traveling there yearly as well. This can be a bit overwhelming to anyone wanting or needing to travel to Tokyo for any reason.

If traveling there for business, it is critical that the employee know exactly where he or she is supposed to be, how to get there and what facilities such as hotel, restaurants and transportation is available upon arrival. Most of these questions can be answered through the employer, but it is a very good idea to also study Tokyo independently and gain as much information as possible.

For people planning a leisure trip to Tokyo, it is even more critical to take the time to carefully plan out this trip. Knowing which sites to visit, where to stay, what transportation to use once there are all very important decisions, which should and need to be made before arriving in Tokyo Japan.

For most independent travelers, the services of a travel agent are usually needed. Going to someone who is familiar with Tokyo is the best first step in planning this type of vacation. Others will go online to study the city out on their own. To truly make the most of this trip, a combination of both is the best idea.

No matter the reason for traveling, and the information given, either by employer, travel agent, internet or other source, the best information will come from the use of maps. Maps of Tokyo can be obtained by contacted the visitor information center, or by talking to others that have been there. Maps are important as a person tries to navigate this large and densely populated city, especially for those that do not know the language, it would be very hard to ask for directions in a language you are unfamiliar with, much less understand the answer from someone that does not understand English.

After obtaining the necessary maps needed for your trip to Tokyo, making sure you have a wide variety of maps, it is also important to study out these maps, before you find yourself standing in the middle of Tokyo not knowing where you are and where you want to go. Pinpoint the areas you are interested in visiting. Find out how far these locations are from your hotel and know how you are going to get there.

Once you have arrived at Tokyo, do not rely on memory, keep your maps handy and in the event that you do get lost, even if you have no idea which way to go, at the very least you can solicit help from a local by pointing to the place you want to go. Japanese people, for the most part understand English, even if it is just a little, but having a map showing them where you want to go will make the conversation easier and less time consuming on both of you.

Traveling to a foreign country is exciting and adventurous, as long as you are properly prepared. No one wants to find himself or herself lost in the middle of any unfamiliar city, let alone one of the largest cities in the world!

You’ve probably received lots of communication letters from different insurance companies by now, and most of them end up in the wastebasket. But you see you may also be throwing away your life or at the least, your health. Insurance policies are important even if they do cost a lot. Everything in this world is uncertain. If you travel every now and then, you’re more prone to accidents and injuries and having a good travel health insurance policy may come handy.

A travel health insurance is highly recommended and this is not just to build up insurance companies. Emergencies may come up and you probably don’t want to be caught without an insurance policy or with a policy with limited coverage.

If you don’t have travel health insurance yet, be sure that you get one from a legitimate and reputable insurance provider. When booking for travel, travel agencies would usually offer you with insurance. Remember this- don’t take any policy from these people. You can get one from any insurance agency or one from one that’s online.

Getting insurance policies from insurance agencies is a good option. The agents can educate you with the different forms of insurance they offer and their coverage. You can also save because you disregarded the middleman, which in this case happens to be the travel agency. By consulting with the insurance agency, you can get more benefits as well. You can freely discuss with the agent all your coverage needs. There are many options that you can choose from like the coverage amount, health benefits, trip insurance, and many others.

If you don’t have time to visit the physical offices of insurance agencies, you can visit them online. There are online sites that you can visit. Comparison sites are also available online and you can visit them freely. They can provide you with several quotes so that you can compare them online and choose the best policy that can meet your needs. Once you’ve chosen the best policy that meets most of your needs, you can purchase the policy online.

Perhaps you already have an existing insurance policy. You may want to re-check with your insurance provider with the coverage of your policy. However, having an additional travel health insurance policy is more beneficial. Some of the benefits offered by an additional policy may not be provided by your existing policy. It is best to have another policy especially if you’re a frequent traveler.

Travel health insurance or travel insurance, they are all the same. They only differ in the coverage and premiums. Make sure that you choose one that you can afford. If you can’t afford the expensive policies, you can get the cheap ones. It doesn’t really matter whether the policy is expensive or cheap, what matters is that the policy meets your needs.

The options have already been laid down for you – you can visit the physical offices of the insurance companies or you can visit the online sites of the reputable insurance companies. So you choose between these two options- whichever is more convenient.

Some of the prominent insurance companies that you can find online are Churchill, ASDA, Direct Line, Tesco, Posy Office, Saga, Nationwide, Columbus, and many others. Visit any of the major insurance companies now and get quotes. Choose your travel health insurance carefully. You have to consider the premiums, your capacity to pay for the policy’s price, etc.

Denver, Colorado, is one of America’s most beautiful cities. It’s also a city where within minutes you aren’t just out in the suburbs, you are out in the mountains in the middle of nowhere! This city of strong contrasts is a great place to spend a vacation as it has something to offer everyone from the very young to the not so young.

The fact that gold is the foundation on which Denver was built is very much in evidence around the city with various landmarks being the product of the gold boom era – from the house in which Molly Brown lived (now a museum that recounts her rags to riches story through narration and artifacts), to the cathedral that she helped finance with the money made from the gold her husband discovered in his mine.

The capitol building is a beautiful piece of architecture but if you have enough energy to walk up to the top of it’s dome, you’ll be rewarded by being able to stand on the spot where Denver’s “mile high” city nickname originates – you’ll be standing one mile above sea level. The view from the top is well worth the climb!

Most cities have malls; Denver takes it that one step further. The 16th Street Mall is a mile long, and even has its own shuttle bus to transport you up and down as you shop. The mall isn’t closed in as most malls are, and with cafes and fountains it’s a great place to sit outside and people watch in the afternoon.

Home to the Denver mint (no samples given), Denver museum has a dinosaur skeleton as one of it’s major exhibits and if the weather isn’t playing nice, the Children’s Museum of Denver is a fun place to take the kids until the sun comes out again. When the weather changes, the Denver zoo and Six Flags Amusement Park will help keep boredom at bay!

Whether you’re interested in architecture, history, thrills or the natural environment, you’ll be sure to find it in Denver.

Family vacations are times for bonding and memory building. They’re also a time when dreams of exotic locations, or one in a lifetime opportunities/challenges are realized. All of these are possible at Discovery Cove, Florida. Situated beside the more typical theme park of SeaWorld, in Orlando, this isn’t a cheap excursion, nor is it a park full of rides, shows and tours. Instead, here you will experience something that you won’t find in many other places. You’ll get to swim with dolphins.

Another contrast to the larger parks is that at Discovery Coves visitors are put into small groups, each with its own staff member to lead it around the park. There’s an age limit to the dolphin swim so if you’ve got under 6’s you’ll need to consider that before deciding on a visit to this park. Another “housekeeping” tip is that trips to Discovery Cove must be pre-booked, and lunch is included – as is all of the equipment hire such as wet suit, snorkel and even a towel if required.

Apart from being taught how to communicate with the dolphins and being allowed to swim with them in your small group, you will be able to spend the rest of the day enjoying the birds that fly over beautiful beaches on the property, together with snorkeling off the various reefs packed with marine life, and exploring hidden grottos. It’s an unforgettable experience!

For anyone who is interested in working in this kind of environment, Discovery Cove offers a Trainer for a Day program where the limited number of visitors who are on the program are allowed a closer connection with the animals and get to work alongside the regular staff members for that day.

Discovery Cove may be missing the wilder exhibits that its neighboring theme parks are noted for, but it more than makes up for this in terms of sheer magic, beauty and wildlife.
